Since 2007, Kimmie S’More has made her way through Indiana roller derby, starting with ROSI (Roller Girls of Southern Indiana).
She is celebrating her her first anniversary with NRG by landing a spot on the Warning Belles roster for the very first time on January 26th.
Q: How did you choose your name and where did you come from?
A: I’m from Evansville originally. My name is from a Black Flag song and their symbol is my number. I really like that band, and there were only a few Kim, Kimmy, Kimmie names on the twoevils roster when I chose it, so it was very original at the time. Now you see all kinds of Gimme More or gimme mo or Gim’me Moore like names, but I was the first!
Q: What attracted you to roller derby? How did you get involved?
A: I had a friend ask me for almost a year to do it. I was way too busy at the time she asked. Later that year, I quit one of my four jobs and I didn’t know what else to do with all my free time.
Q: What do you do off the track?
A: My non-derby life is not that interesting. I’m engaged to a member of the men’s team locally (the Race City Rebels)! Upchuck Norris and I got engaged last February! Derby did not bring us together – I introduced him to the sport.
Q: What has been your biggest derby moment so far?
A: I had several last year – playing in a bout with/against Scald Eagle, Joy Collision, Georgia W. Tush and Hockey Honey is probably near the top of the list.
Q: If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?
A: Scald Eagle (Rose City – Portland, OR) because she’s amazing and has super skating powers!
