Q&A with #69 PushyCat
She’s just as fiery as her hair and has been tearing up the track for both the Naptown Warning Belles and Tornado Sirens all season. PushyCat commutes from Fort Wayne to play for Naptown and her presence has been felt every time she’s hit the track!
Q: Who are you and where are you from?
A: My name is PushyCat and I am from Fort Wayne Indiana.
Q: Why roller derby?
A: I couldn’t tell you why I started. I can say, besides my family, roller derby has been the one “constant” in my life since 2005. As I grow and develop, so does the sport. Just when I think it may be time to hang up my skates another challenge is presented and here I am (eight years later).
Q: What do you do to unwind off the track?
A: I train for derby! I like to stay active, whether it be the gym or outside activities. I also love to spend time with my dogs, drink wine and oil paint. In that order.
Q: Who is your derby crush and why?
A: I don’t really have a single “crush.” I enjoy watching talented skaters in general.
Any woman, who pushes herself to new limits, can get out of her comfort zone and go beyond the norm. That’s what I crush on.
Q: What has been your favorite derby moment so far?
A: Skating next to the best skaters in the United States in Atlanta last year for Championships. I remember the National Anthem started to play and the Texas girls started stomping their feet and at that moment I was filled with an overwhelming joy I honestly don’t know how to properly describe.
Q: Tell the fans something unusual or interesting about you.
A: I can operate heavy machinery – backhoes, front end loaders, bulldozers, etc. I also enjoy pedicures!
