How long have you been playing derby and what’s your favorite thing about being a Naptown Roller Girl?
I’ve been playing for about 6 years. I think my favorite thing about Naptown is being able to play against really good blockers like Asian Sinsation and Mutant Jean in practice all the time.
What is your favorite position to play, and why?
I think I like jamming the most, maybe because I like being an underdog. Also you sometimes get to tell your whole pack what to do because the jammer is basically the super-pivot.
Describe one of your favorite moments in your derby career.
At our second home bout this year, some little fans approached me because they specifically wanted a picture with me (not a generic roller girl) after watching me play. That was the first time that happened. I was definitely not one of the people who shot to the top right away, I had to work a LOT outside of normal practices to get to that point, so it’s pretty rewarding.
Who do you look up to most in the derby world?
Cherry-oto-Fire is one of the tallest people on my team, so I probably look up most to her.
What do you like to do in your free time outside of derby?
Yoga, Crossfit, and go to church. But mostly I watch TV.
What would you like to see in the future for women’s roller derby?
A few of us have discussed a sequel to the movie “Whip It,” where she transfers to the flat track and starts dating women.
