January Featured Skater: #1980 Shiva Diva
As far as legacies go, Shiva Diva has created one for herself. A fierce leader on and off the track, Shiva served as League President for several seasons. Alongside that, she continues to dominate on the track as a Sirens blocker. Even though she is relinquishing her presidential duties this upcoming season, Shiva Diva is definitely ready to hit the track!
How many seasons have you been with the Naptown Roller Girls?
I am getting ready to start my eighth season!
You recently led the launch of Rolling Thunder, our recreation league.
The rec league is something that’s been on my agenda for about 3-4 years, and this year I was able to finally get it off the ground. I saw a need for those retired skaters and other derby players that are not able to put in the hours needed at the competitive level. The rec league will allow them to play the sport they love without the commitment level. We practice twice a month and provide a scrimmage/bout opportunity against others once a month.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time, off-skates?
When I’m not doing derby stuff, I’m either working the many hours for my real job, teaching workout classes at the local gym that I belong to, traveling for either work or pleasure, or taking care of my two dogs!
What is your favorite memory of being a Naptown Roller Girl?
There certainly isn’t just one, but most of the best memories come from our travel bouts! These provide the best and craziest memories ever! That’s a lot of memories after seven years!
Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have two very spoiled dogs, named Harley and Rocky.
What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming Season 11?
I look forward to increasing our ranking position! That’s a respectable position, but we are definitely capable of getting back to where we were. I’m also looking forward to creating my final season of memories as this most likely will be my last season playing competitively as a Siren.
