Deadie Page

Number: 99
Birthday: February 26th
Height: 5’7”
Hometown: Fortville, Indiana
Position: Blocker, pivot

What was your first car?
An ’87 Grand Am

What do you do for a day job?
Hairstylist and cosmetology instructor

What do you like to do outside of derby?
Making art, jewelry, hair accessories, and clothes. I also love music and watching bands play live.

Were you a troublemaker as a kid?
Nope

As an adult?
I’m told I can be a brat, but it’s all in good fun.

What is the meaning behind your derby name?
My boyfriend actually came up with it. We both love pin up girls, and obviously it’s a play on Bettie Page. I had just bought some new fishnets and said to him, “Aren’t these cute?” He replied, “Oh my god. Deadie Page.” And my derby name was born.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to make it in the real world?
Never stop believing in yourself. Work hard and find the time to play harder.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?
“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” —Maria Robinson

What is your favorite sports movie?
Gleaming the Cube

What kind of wheels do you skate on?
Black Radar Flat Outs

What advice would you give to someone looking to enter the world of derby?
Just keep pushing yourself. Don’t give up. Expect the unexpected. Drink lots of water, and for God’s sake quit smoking!

What would surprise people the most to know about you?
I give a mean bear hug, and I love to run a Bobcat.
