Psychedelic Sandy

Birthday: August 14th
Height: 5′ 7”
Home State: Texas

Position: Blocker and pivot
Signature move/trademark: I hit and hit hard!

What was your first car?
1973 Maverick

What do you do for a living?
Roller derby (for a hobby—social work)

What are the names of your pets, and what are they?
Buddy, dog; Skitz, cat; Caspur, cat

What do you like to do outside of derby?
Watching demolition derby, swimming, and doing every activity I can with my children.

Were you a troublemaker as a kid?
No!

As an adult?
Maybe!

What is the meaning behind your derby name?
I love ’60s and ’70s music and art. My number 69 comes from the first time roller derby was aired on TV.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to make it in the real world?
Like Joe Dirt said: “Keep on keepin’ on.”

What is your favorite sports movie?
Rudy

What kind of wheels do you skate on?
You name it, and I have it or have used it. But I prefer G-rods.

Tailbone protector or padded shorts?
Padded shorts. I am always pulling out my teammates’ tailbone protectors when going for a whip or a really good hit on an opponent.

What would surprise people the most to know about you?
My hard hits

Additional Info from Sandy:
I am extremely competitive. I cannot drive down the road without having to race someone. When my husband and I take separate vehicles, we always race each other to our destination.
