Wham Bam

Birthday: June 1, 1992
Height: about 5’7”
Hometown: Noblesville, Indiana
What position(s) do you play? Mostly Pivot and Blocker, but I jam ocassionally!
Signature move/trademark: Giving the Jammer a big Wham! Bam!
List of injuries from skating: Concussion, Sprained ankle, hopefully that is it for a while!

What was your first car?
2006 Kia Spectra

What do you do for a living?
I am a Certified Nursing Assistant, I take care of the old folks and love every minute of it!

What are the names of your pets, and what are they?
As much as I want a pet, I do not have one of my own yet!

What do you like to do outside of derby?
Outside of derby, I work and go to school full time so It is hard to do much else!

Were you a troublemaker as a kid?
Occasionally, yes!

As an adult?
I am a terrible driver and I think that gets me into a lot of trouble!

What / who inspires you?
Some of the other Naptown skaters really inspire me and have ever since I started out with Indianapolis Junior Roller Derby. I remember Breezin’ came to our practices so she could get some practice before she tried out for NRG and she just inspired me so much. I have seen that girl take HUGE hits and bounce right back up like nothing even happened. She has gone so far in just a short amount of time and I really look up to her for that.

What is the meaning behind your derby name?
My freshman year in high school, I had just made a new group of friends and two of them were twins. The twins started to call me Wham Bam for some reason? It has stuck with me ever since.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to make it in the real world?
Staying positive really helps. I have learned that through skating with NRG.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?
“This too shall pass”

What kind of wheels do you skate on?
Katya just hooked me up with some Radar wheels, so far I love them!

Tailbone protector or padded shorts?
I may regret this one day but as of now I don’t wear either!

What would surprise people the most to know about you?
Well in 2006 I had major back surgery due to scoliosis, I never would have thought to turn to Roller Derby after that! But, I am glad I did. :)
